ICASA 2019 Youth Programme consists of series of activities/sessions that promotes meaningful youth engagement and participation in the field of HIV, SRHR, TB, Malaria and emerging diseases at ICASA 2019 and beyond. It also looks at the role of key players in the area of advocacy, programming, research and preventive methods in the field of HIV and SRHR.
The Youth Programmes seeks to;
- Guide, develop and finalize a youth programme for ICASA 2019
- Promote meaningful youth engagement and participation in the field of HIV at ICASA 2019 and beyond.
- To amplify youth voices on HIV, TB, etc. throughout the ICASA programme.

Youth Special Sessions are sessions within the ICASA Programme that explores issues around HIV response in Africa for Young People. A Youth Special session may explore issues on domestic funding for Youth activities on HIV, Youth engagement and leadership in HIV response in Africa, Best Country approaches towards HIV responses in Africa or other HIV issue of interest/importance of the organizer(s).
A Youth Special session gives the opportunity to thought leaders in the field of HIV, SRHR, Malaria, TB and emerging diseases to share insights about their work with and for young people whilst providing best practices to solve emerging challenges towards an AIDS FREE AFRICA.
The session targets governments, donors, partners, civil society organisations, and other partners working in the area of HIV, SRHR, TB and emerging diseases.
Civil society organizations, Donors, Government/State agencies, International NGOs, partners, including youth-led organizations are all eligible to submit proposals for youth special sessions.
Youth special sessions host distinguished speakers from all around Africa. They are from government agencies, partners and CSOs who have demonstrated interest/experience on the advocacy, programming, research and the sciences on HIV, SRHR, Malaria, TB and emerging diseases.
Speakers for Youth Special Sessions does not only include young people but high level speakers from government agencies, partners, partners and CSOs etc. who have demonstrated interest/experience on the advocacy, programming, research and the sciences on HIV, SRHR, Malaria, TB and emerging diseases.
You do not need to be a member of Youth Programme Committee in order to submit a proposal. You can submit proposals for the youth Pre-conference activity, Youth Special session, and Youth Pavilion activity. Kindly see criteria here.
The Youth Pre-conference Pre–Conference are integral part of ICASA conferences. They are focused meetings that take place the day before the main ICASA conference. They are intended to provoke intellectual discussion, among a diverse range of participants, on a specific topic. Pre –conferences may also consist of workshops discussing critical issues, methods, theories emerging in the field of discussion.

Youth Pavilion.
The youth pavilion is a space where youth participants and the general public hangout to participate in activities on HIV, SRHR and related issues. It is located within the community village and hosts a variety of educative and interactive activities e.g. Music Jam sessions, Storytelling sessions, arts and cultural activities etc.
Proposals for Youth pavilion activities are expected to be creative and should engage participants and the general public on the objectives of the conference.
Youth Caravan.
The idea of The Youth Caravan is to select 10 young people from each of the 4 countries that make up the caravan route such as: Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania and Burundi to finally join the venue of the conference (Kigali) . Specific activities will be developed at each stop to raise public awareness of the conference and promote youth behavior change.
The youth caravan of ICASA 2017 Cote d'Ivoire conference featured activities such as: awareness raising films on reproductive health, HIV awareness, first ladies and media engagement with young people and other interactive activities.
Previous Youth Caravan activities range from HIV Film Shows, Media engagement with First Ladies/HIV champions, International debates among young people and other interactive activities including youth pre-conference activities at the conference.
