ICASA 2019 QUARTERLY E-NEWSLETTER

The International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) is the biggest bilingual international AIDS conference which takes place in Africa. It is an opportunity to highlight the diverse nature of the African’s region HIV epidemic and the unique response to it. The AIDS Conference is the premier gathering for researchers, activists, community workers and health professionals around the globe to share their latest scientific advance in the field. ICASA 2019 is expected to convene over 10,000 delegates from more than 150 countries, including 200 journalists to Kigali Convention Centre, Rwanda.
ICASA 2019 2nd International Steering Committee (ISC) Meeting
The 2nd International Steering Committee (ISC) meeting for ICASA 2019 was held at the Serena Hotel in Kigali on 28th - 29th March 2019.
The Chairs of the meeting Prof. John Idoko, ICASA 2019 President and Dr. Diane Gashumba, The Honorable Minister of Health, Rwanda and ICASA 2019 Vice President worked with the leadership, scientific and community programme committees to review and finalize concurrent sessions and ICASA 2019 plenary speakers. The ISC members at the meeting also visited the Kigali Convention Centre, the venue for ICASA 2019.

ICASA 2019 THEME: AIDS FREE AFRICA - Innovation, Community, and Political Leadership
ICASA 2019 OBJECTIVES
  1. Promote community, scientific and technological innovations for ending AIDS.
  2. Advocate for financing sustainable national health responses, political leadership and accountability.
  3.  Advocate for strengthened health systems and multi-sectoral collaboration to integrate co-morbidities, emerging infections and NCDs.
  4. Re-think gender norms, human rights-based approaches and inclusion towards equitable and accessible HIV and AIDS services including those targeting key populations.
  5. Promote youth-driven and youth-friendly approaches for an AIDS-free generation.

ICASA 2019 UPCOMING ACTIVITIES
ICASA 2019 REGULAR REGISTRATION opens on 16th April 2019. Deadline for regular registration is on 31st July 2019.
